Care Grants

The CJD Support Network awards care grants to those in financial need through caring for a relative with all forms of prion disease.

Care Grant Application Form

The CJD Support Network’s Caring Grants aim to provide support where there is a financial need that cannot be otherwise covered by statutory funding (i.e. continuing health care funding, local authority, NHS, or the CJD Care Fund). Previous care grants have been awarded for items and expenses including, but not limited to; equipment or home adaptations required due to illness progression, necessary travel, and one-off expenses for things that can provide relief or respite for patients and carers.

Grants are for up to £500 and repeat grants are not ordinarily given due to limited funds. Support for the request should be provided by relevant clinicians. Receipts, invoices, or similar documentation will be required where payment for goods or services cannot be made directly.

We welcome unique applications and will consider each carefully, taking into account the family’s situation.

Doctor's recommendation - The doctor’s recommendation should confirm that the person cared for has been diagnosed as having CJD, and should state the severity, duration and rate of progress of the disease. (It may be written by your GP or a hospital doctor).
