Informal Walking Group – Yorkshire
Let’s get together! Our coordinator Beth and member Dave Richardson will be going on an informal walk through Menston, Burley in Wharfedale on Saturday 21st June 2025. The route will start at Menston train station, going through Menston village, Burley in Wharfedale and following a very gentle easy incline up to the iconic cow and calf rocks – looking over to Bolton Abbey. The walk then drops down into the start of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is about 6 miles and should take around 2 hours at a gentle stroll. The plan is to have a rest and refreshments at the end of the walk in Ilkley, followed by a short train ride back to Menston station.
The walkers will meet between 10-10.30am at Menston station, to set off promptly at 10.30am. They welcome anyone who would like to join them.
For people coming by car there is a car park at the station. For those travelling by train the route will most likely be via Leeds or Bradford, travelling on to Menston on the Wharfedale Line.
This is an easy and flat route, though walking boots and waterproofs should be considered (it’s the Yorkshire Dales so we should always be prepared for a bit of rain!). Four legged friends are also welcome and the hope is to stop at the end of the walk for refreshments in Ilkley.
Beth and Dave will be there with yellow t-shirts on so that you can’t miss them!
