Ian’s horse racing!

On 19th October, Ian Cogbill held a ‘virtual’ Horse Racing event in the New House Inn, North Cornelly, to raise funds and awareness for CJD in memory of his wife, Darlene. Including local businesses, friends and family who kindly sponsored each race, as well as many generous donations on the night a staggering (or rather, galloping) £1,351 was raised. Ian says:

A packed venue at the pub saw a raucous crowd watch 8 races in total, with many punters having varying degrees of success!

The “friendly” bookies (i.e. me and my good friend Keith Edwards who ran the show superbly well) were kept very busy all night! It was an absolutely marvellous, successful and fun filled evening. Everybody really enjoyed it (even those who didn’t know anything about horse racing before, or those unlucky enough not to back a winner).

I am once again overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have come together yet again to support such a worthwhile cause. My family and I simply can’t thank them enough.

A huge thank you to Ian, Keith, and all who sponsored races and were involved on the night!
